Membership FAQs

• We offer an annual membership for just $60. (Sign up between now and when we launch and pay only $50 for your first year of borrowing!)

• Membership allows you to borrow up to five items at a time, as many times as you like across the year. 

• Membership fees help us cover the cost of insurance, storage, cataloguing software, buying new items, and repairing and servicing old ones. 

• You can join online, but the first time you borrow you'll need to show some photo ID and proof of residence when you pick up your item. If you move house during your membership time with us, you'll need to let us know your new address. 

• When signing up, you'll be required to accept, and initial, our Waiver and Indemnity agreement and Lending Conditions. This document clearly outlines the risks and responsibilities involved in using the Library. Please read them carefully before agreeing. 

• Some of our loan items use consumable or disposable parts that require a fee; for instance, vacuum sealer bags, bubble mixture, sanding pads etc. These will be clearly listed on each item's description page. Many consumables can be purchased from local stores or hardware suppliers. Alternatively, you can buy them from the Library when you pick up your loan item. 

How to join

1. Go to our Online Catalogue by clicking this link: Visit the catalogue

2. Click Create Account.

3. Complete the Sign Up form. 

4. Read, initial and agree to the Waiver and Indemnity agreement and Lending Conditions.

5. Read the Welcome email, and confirm your email address by clicking the box at bottom of the email. 

Once you're in the Library of Stuff portal:

6. Click on the Membership Options tab. 

7. Choose your membership type (e.g. 'Early Adopter') by clicking on the grey button at the bottom of the relevant box.

8. Enter your credit card details and click submit. Note: you must have a credit card on file to use the Library; this is non-negotiable. However, if you prefer to pay for your membership a different way, send us an email once you've created your account. We'll give you some options.  

9. Now you're ready to go! Just click on the Inventory tab to start browsing.

How to book an item

1. Log into your Library of Stuff account.

2. Browse the inventory and click on the item you'd like to borrow.

3. In the item description page, click the Reserve button OR the Calendar at bottom to pick your loan dates. 

4. In the From Calendar on the left, choose one of the available bolded dates to collect the item (these are our opening days). The default loan duration is one week; therefore the calendar will automatically create an end date that's seven days later. 

5. If you'd like to return the item in four days rather than seven, click an alternate end-date in the To calendar on the right to shorten the loan period. 

6. Click +Add Items once your dates are selected and repeat the process for any additional items you'd like to borrow. 

7. When finished, click the Cart icon at the top of the page. Click the appropriate option to complete, cancel, or edit your reservation. 

8. You'll receive a confirmation email listing your reserved item/s and when to collect them.
